A beautiful yet brutal day for the W+K brethren. With the sun beating down on our backs, we suffered a beating to our hides, losing 13-5 at the hands of ESPN. While we were certainly sore they narrowed the series to 5 all-time wins to our 6, the day was not marked by the loss. Supporters for both sides were treated to hot dogs, hot pretzels, beverages of all sorts, fake mustaches, and a sock flinging t-shirt cannon. And when the on-field festivities were done, we took the party to the West Village to get our minds right for Jordan’s “Melo Powers Through the Hudson” event.

Shout-outs go to everyone who worked their asses off to bring this to life (and to make next year’s win that much better) and especially to Ryan Burke who wrote the post above and Sophy Lee for the photos below.

We’ve been working with an awesome organization, called the Ghetto Film School, for a while and have seen them do some pretty amazing stuff. Their latest and greatest bit of awesomeness needs you!

GFS made some spec ESPN spots for our “It’s Not Crazy, It’s Sports” campaign that we’re pretty big fans of… especially considering they were completely DIY with almost no budget. Now, they’re hosting a competition to see which one of these spots is the world’s favorite. The top spot will be featured on ESPNRISE.COM.

Take a second to visit GFS’s YouTube page and watch some of these masterpieces and then vote for your favorite by liking it. That’s all.

Voting ends on Friday… so get there quick and spread the word. These kids rocked it hard and deserve the attention!

The W+K mothership just announced a new bit of awesomeness and we’re pumped! PIE (Portland Incubator Experiment) put out a call for new startups today on http://piepdx.com/. For those of you not familiar with PIE, it’s a tech incubator in Portland where startups can get funding, mentorship and office space in W+K HQ to do their experiments. Past success stories include the likes of Urban Airship, PHP Fog, COLOURlovers, Bac’n and Bass Masta… all of the aforementioned were either funded or acquired within 3 months.

This time around, a few lucky geniuses will get some seed capital, office space, mentorship from PIE alums, W+K head honchos and some of the world’s most successful brands, including Coca-Cola, Target and Nike. If you’ve got a brilliant idea and want to make magic in beautiful Portland visit http://piepdx.com/ to apply before August 1st, because class starts on September 1st.
