On a warm Wednesday evening earlier this week, WKNY and Heineken took over the corner of Lafayette and Great Jones with a surprise performance featuring Brooklyn-born TV on the Radio.

As part of the “Occasionally Perfect” campaign for Heineken Light, the billboard sat patiently on that corner for over week quietly declaring “This billboard is occasionally perfect.” Finally on August 17, it delivered with a 30 minute set from TV on the Radio, featuring the following songs :

Young Liars

Staring At the Sun

Repetition

Wolf Like Me

Tweets and Facebook posts went out a little over hour before the show was scheduled to start, regardless the street was mobbed with adoring fans and stopped traffic.

There’s much more coming from this campaign so stay tuned. Our billboard’s always down to travel.

Attack has been hard at work getting the 6th floor ready to host the baddest of asses in the NYC’s fashion world, and the doors are set to open at 5:00 this afternoon. Killer beats and awesome eats will also be provided, by Fool’s Gold Records and Eddie Huang of Baohaus, respectively (we tried it the other way round and it just wasn’t as good). So come on down, see what we’ve done with the space, and check out the wares from New York’s most fashionable retailers. If you play your cards right, there just might be some discounting going on too.

If late nights in the office are holding you down, 1. we feel you (believe us) and 2. you can swing by SHOP over the weekend from 1:00 – 7:00. Or just blow off work on Monday altogether and we’ll see you and your new tan at 5:00. Hit the jump for some shots of the setup before any madness. We’ll add more as it gets bumping.

150 Varick, 6th floor

It’s been an historic day for smart phone photographers, social networks and aerospace enthusiasts thanks to a timely use of Twitter. Stefanie Gordon was en route to Palm Beach on a Delta flight from NYC when the captain announced there might be an opportunity to witness the final launch of the space shuttle Endeavor. While nearing their destination she managed to snap some photo and video of the ascent on her iPhone. Once landed, she posted a shot to her Twitter feed.

Fast forward a few hours and she’s not only gained more than 1,000 new followers but interview requests from local news affiliates and apparently a mention on the national anchor broadcasts. In a savvy move, Gordon also tweeted out her LinkedIn profile — the same day LinkedIn announced that its IPO is set for Thursday.

Meanwhile, back in NYC, your humble(bragging) blogger was checking the ol’ Tweetdeck feed and noticed that pal “Leokitty” was having a Twitter conversation with Gordon just as I was beginning to track the story. A quick call confirmed that the die-hard Yankees fan had been flying with W+K NYC client Delta Air Lines, who just wrapped up their #DeltaDugout Yankees road game tix+airfare promotion today. Oh, and NASA also launched a social media initiative, too.

Twitter, LinkedIn, NASA, Delta … everybody’s a winner! And now I’m a conspiracy theorist.

In a victory described by Neal as a “One Shot, One Kill” scenario for Scott, Ian and their Tier 1 Special Forces team, the New York office has won Heineken. Congrats to all hands and their three-week pitch turnaround!

Rumors are floating around that there will be a “beer allowance.” We don’t know what that means, but it sure beats the sound of “beer paper route.”
