1. Can someone tell me why Justine Frischmann isn’t making music? Seriously, what is better than Elastica’s first album? That’s some fun brit-pop. As an aside, I remember being a teenager and bringing in pictures of Justine when I’d get my haircut. She did a mussed indie crop better than anyone (evidence below).
2. It would be nice if there was a derivation of the word evidence that was evidance- a way to showcase a clue or what happened using interpretive dance. Perhaps tap or jazz hands could assist. Something for Safire to consider.
3. I thought of this definition a few weeks ago and Phil (hi Phil!) said I should share it:
CROWER (noun, verb)- to cry in your shower because you live in a crowded metropolis and don’t want your roommates/neighbors to hear you. Often after tough meeting, or Oprah. Ex: Deena had watched “The Notebook” with her roommates before, but it had been a brutal day at work and she needed to crower before dinner.
4. What is that song that you know would kill any music credibility you have, but you can’t help loving it anyway? Right now, I am totally loving ‘Fifteen’ by Taylor Swift, and ‘Party in the USA’ by Miley (it’s Miley!) Cyrus. I think I can get away with the Miley one, because it has a Kelly Clarkson ‘so good it transcends genre’ appeal. However, I worry that if this news of Taylor Swift admiration gets out, I’ll be ridiculed by the office and Mac from Superchunk will never love me. But that girl can write a wistful lyric like nobody’s business. While we’re at it, my best pop songs ever are ‘No Myth’ by Michael Penn and ‘Careless Whisper’ by George Michael. Romeo in black jeans and guilty feet have got no rhythm. If there was a Pulitzer for lyric awesomeness, those two would get it. And I can’t believe that Pitchfork picked B.O.B. by Outkast as the best song of the 2000′s. I mean, really Pitchfork?!? I can think of many other songs that should be considered. (Hi I am everyone and I don’t approve this song choice)
3. Mad Men is killing it. That show makes me want to have roundtable discussions. And write theses.
