Before the weekend hit, we visited Shinichi Maruyama in Long Island City to discuss his attitude towards art as a career, the scene in Japan and what he’s up to lately (hint: Donna Karan).  Maruyama-san was kind enough to demonstrate the process behind his high speed photography of ink and water in motion.  There’s a remarkably zen-like quality to how each procedure is set up and executed…someone should really do a live exhibition with him, as the journey behind each of his shots is as noteworthy as the result itself…
