For Your Consideration: ER

Look at those socks!!

I haven’t posted in a long time, and I’m seriously racking my brain to think of something to write about.  So, I’m going to give a brief tribute to my rediscovered love for ER, the 15-year workhorse on NBC.

I can’t even remember when I gave up this show- perhaps sometime before Romano lost his arm from an errant helicopter blade accident on the roof.  FYI- he was later killed by a helicopter.  A totally different one.  Yep.  That happened.

Anyway, there are now two episodes left.  And I’ve been amazed by how good this show still is.  How compelling it can still be when it’s the same hospital halls, 15 years later.

What’s really interesting is that I always thought this show was about the romantic relationships.  Doug and Carol, Greene and Susan Lewis etc…  But after watching ‘The Clooney Episode’, I realized that it’s really about the bromances.  The best relationships on the show were Dr Ross and Dr Greene (Clooney and Anthony Edwards) and Benton and Carter (La Salle and Noah Wyle).  Seriously- I mean, Benton and Carter killed it last week.  I was sobbing.

So, two episodes left.  Is it my top show of the season? Probably not- Lost is pretty awesome right now.  But it’s worth tuning in as it comes to a close.  In today’s topsy turvy world, a show with 15 years on its CV is pretty amazing.

And Uncle Jesse- still hot.
